Slander Suit

In the case of Wm. Monks vs. John Spradley, for slander, Monks obtained judgment against Spradley in the Laclede circuit court, for five cents damage and costs of the suit.  This was a case from the Howell court, taken to Laclede on a change of venue.  Some twenty witnesses were pumped dry, and the case dragged through nearly four days, but resulted as stated above.  The cost of the suit is no small affair, and Monks is probably satisfied.
